About Ruth Dailey
As a left-handed Aries I celebrate a life-long love of art of all types and mediums. Being a child in a right-handed world I learned to ‘teach ’ myself the skills and techniques of the arts and crafts lovingly created by the women in my family – an amazing legacy. As a self-taught artist I soon found joy in exploring and experimenting creating my own style. As an avid reader and learner I have eagerly sought out inspiration and ideas from others and adapted them to my way of doing things. Years spent as a Gallery Director, surrounded by art, has enriched my quest to create. I must have an endless reservoir of images and ideas in my head as I create spontaneously, intuitively, and, as my daughter likes to say, the art just “sparks off her fingertips”/
COLOR – is the element that unifies all my art – whether it is paints or printing inks, papers or threads, stamppads or colored pencils. My creative genre encompasses monotypes, canvas paintings, ATC’s, jewelry, art journals, bookmaking and binding, fabric arts and knitting stripey wool socks, and now a venture into making videos and digital painting. As an experimenter I eagerly sample new mediums and techniques as they show up in the art scene. I love the tools and supplies of all the creative mediums and have a studio in the redwoods filled with them, enticing me to create. My motto is- "its a good day when you learn something new" and my days are full!
